Orange County Construction Inching Towards Recovery

June 30, 2009 – Thanks in part to the home owner $10,000 tax credit, Orange County is seeing more and more permits pulled for single family home construction projects. The number of permits for the month of May, totaling 145, almost equals the 147 pulled in May 2008.  Though the number of Orange County construction permits pulled this year to-date for single family homes is down 27% from last years numbers, the current trending is very encouraging.

The numbers being reported by the California Building Industry Association will hopefully help Orange County builders, from Irvine general contractors to Santa Ana painters, to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Although a very large portion of the $100 million of state dollars budgeted for the tax incentive program has already been spent, the California construction industry is lobbying for an extension.
