Daytona Beach to See Flood Control Construction

December 1, 2009 – The city of Daytona Beach, Florida is taking steps to bolster its capacity to withstand heavy rains as it has several years worth of projects in the works, the first of which kicks-off in January. The initial construction includes adding pipes and creating retention ponds to help mitigate the flooding of the Noval Canal along Nova Road. Daytona Beach contractors who qualify for positions on these public works projects are likely to experience several years of steady employment.

Presently, an engineering study funded by a collective of local governments is assessing the best approach for reducing flood waters.  Nearly all plans on the table, though, involve the construction of several large storm water storage ponds to temporarily hold excess water.  Daytona Beach general contractors should pursue opportunities associated with the excavation and logistics of these ponds.

Decision Near for Florida Commuter Rail

December 4, 2009 – By Wednesday, both the United States Senate and House of Representatives will have made their decision on a funding bill that includes significant allocation for Florida’s ailing commuter railway system. It is expected that the rail projects would generate thousands of construction jobs for everyone from Brandon general contractors to Ocala general contractors.

With Florida’s unemployment rate presently at 11.2 percent, these railway projects cannot come soon enough.
