Unions Win in Long Beach Harbor Agreement
March 2, 2010 – Local union construction workers in Long Beach, California won a victory this past week as Port authorities consented to a deal that guarantees prevailing wage and the hiring of local builders for the work on the $750 million Middle Harbor Redevelopment project. $150 million of work, to which the recent agreement directly applies, is set to begin later in the year. Seal Beach general contractors and Carson builders should be pleased by efforts of unions officials.
The 10-year Middle Harbor project is currently in the first phase of development.
