San Diego Contractors Get Solar Power Initiative

September 2, 2010 – Recently the California Public Utilities Commission approved a San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) initiative to provide 100 megawatts of solar generated energy to the San Diego area. The initiative not only means subsidy for green energy, but eventual contracts for the likes of San Diego general contractors and Del Mar general contractors.

Currently the region only delivers 80 megawatts of solar generated energy to the grid.

Mesa, Arizona Still Might See Its Huge Development

September 6, 2010 – Two years ago, Gaylord Entertainment Co. and DMB Associates told a large crowd in Mesa, Arizona that they were planning an enormous Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport development. Due to economic difficulties, the project has made very little progress. Now, the developers are asking for more time to build their 1,200 room resort, which would provide years of employment to the likes of Mesa general contractors and Tempe roofing contractors.

If approved for its extension, the Gaylord project would still take over a decade to reach full completion.

Warren, MI City College to Construct Auto Center

September 12, 2010 – Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan has been bestowed with a $1.4 million grant from the National Science Foundation to create a Center for Advanced Automotive Technology. It can be assumed that some construction will be required for the establishment of a devoted facility, which is welcome news to Warren general contractors and Detroit general contractors.

If the initial two year trial program has successes, then the National Science Foundation has pledged an additional $1.5 million.

UTEP Planning to Raise $200M for Renovations of University

September 19, 2010 – The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) has announced plans of raising $200 million in funding for a campus enhancement program that will include extensive construction and renovation. This comes as welcome news to local builders like El Paso general contractors and El Paso roofing contractors.

The fundraising campaign announced by UTEP president Diana Natalicio is the largest in the school’s history.

September 23, 2010 – The Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA) unveiled a new website this week that is intended to help contractors pursue state and federally funded construction projects. The website (ReconstructFL.com) is a one-stop-shop for builders like Miami general contractors and Orlando roofing contractors who are looking to land lucrative public works projects.
