Turlock, CA Continues Industrial Expansion

January 9, 2009 - The city of Turlock, California is in the middle of a large development effort for 2,600 acres just west of the city. The Westside Industrial Specific plan, as it is called, is focused on producing economic stimulus by luring manufacturing companies to the area. The good news for Turlock contractors is that these arriving companies often need new facilities built.

Some projects planed for the Westside Industrial Specific plan in the near future include a 109,000 square-foot office building and a 348,000 square-foot facility for a cheese plant. Local contractors, including Turlock general contractors, are grateful for the city’s expansion efforts.

Modesto Construction of Hope Village Continues

June 13, 2009 - The national Affordable Housing Program (AHP), which has doled out over $30 million so far in 2009, awarded $300,000 to Oak Valley Community Bank of Oakdale. The bank will be using the funds to help finish the construction of the final phase of the Hope Village development in Modesto.

The Stanislaus contractors, Habitat for Humanity, will be overseeing the completion of the 20-unit project.  Prospective homeowners will be required to participate in the Modesto construction process, contributing more than 500 hours, in order to qualify for the affordable housing.

The Hope Village subdivision will employ some green features, such as photo-voltaic power.

To date, the AHP has supplied funding to construct 2,558 residences, with projects in California, Illinois, Texas, Washington, and Nevada.
