Riverside Construction Has Bright Spots
Posted by jobtrio.com Staff on June 15th, 2009
June 15, 2009 – Riverside County, which only a few years ago was the nation’s quickest-growing county, is hoping that some large construction projects underway and upcoming in the Coachella Valley will help Palm Desert and the surrounding areas make it through these tough economic times.
Though the monthly building permits issued count has been hanging at around 800 through April and May, there is no time like the present to build for the future. Construction projects, especially those which leverage stimulus dollars, with timelines which lead into early 2010 will be poised to take advantage of the predicted economic recovery, experts say.
Some of the projects which are keeping Palm Desert contractors and La Quinta contractors employed include The Vineyard apartment and hotel construction in Palm Springs, the Eisenhower Medical project in Rancho Mirage, and new shopping centers in Palm Springs.
In the next few months, the desert chapter of the Building Industry Council has said to expect Riverside construction jobs to be created by the building and retrofitting of bridges and roads throughout the Coachella Valley.

Indio Contractors to Build New High School
Posted by jobtrio.com Staff on July 7th, 2009
July 7, 2009 – The Desert Sands Unified School District board of education has made the decision to move forward with the construction of a brand new Indio High School. The $84.8 million project is going to be constructed on the softball and baseball fields of the current Indio High School, allowing classes to continue during construction. Included in the new construction are a swimming pool, administration building, and library, among other buildings. After the new development is completed, the old school will be demolished and in its place will be various courts and athletic fields.
The rebuilding of the 50-year-old campus could present a tremendous award for the selected Riverside general contractor. Also neighboring contractors, from Palm Desert electricians to Palm Springs plumbers, could benefit from the enormous project.
It is expected that the next year and a half will be devoted to creation of design and plans and identification of sub-contractors. Construction is likely to begin in early 2011 and last through 2013.

Lake Elsinore Development In Works for Riverside Contractors
Posted by jobtrio.com Staff on August 25th, 2009
August 25, 2009 – Plans for an enormous shopping, entertainment, and housing development are in the works for Lake Elsinore. Over 60 acres along Diamond Drive are being eyed for the project, which is being referred to as the Diamond Specific Plan. Sun City contractors, and other surrounding tradesmen, are optimistic that construction will move forward soon in Lake Elsinore.
Some of the proposed features of the Diamond Specific Plan include 600 residences, a 150-room hotel, a movie theater, and an education center. The construction project, expected to be priced in the $100 million range, could help bring much needed relief to local builders, including Murrieta contractors and Perris contractors.

Riverside Contractors Optimistic About March LifeCare Construction
Posted by jobtrio.com Staff on September 29th, 2009
September 29, 2009 – A full-service, 3.5 million square foot medical complex is on track for construction on March Air Reserve Base. The complex is going by the name March LifeCare. Later this month, the March Joint Powers Authority will vote on the proposal, but the developer is quite optimistic that the project will continue to move forward. The facility, which would include a retail space in addition to a hospital, would likely create hundreds of construction jobs for Moreno Valley contractors and over 10,000 long term jobs for area residents.
The huge construction project still had many obstacles to overcome in the way of traffic and environmental concerns, but the Newport Beach-based developer, LNR Corp., thinks that the facility could serve patients as early as 2011. The LifeCare medical complex will help serve the medical needs of local residents who are presently seeking care outside of the Moreno Valley area. Struggling Riverside electricians as well as Moreno Valley general contractors should be glad to hear that the project is moving forward.

Officials Cut Riverside Developers’ Fees
Posted by jobtrio.com Staff on November 19th, 2009
November 19, 2009 – In an effort to stimulate the ailing Inland economy, city officials for several Southern California districts have significantly reduced the fees which developers must pay. Cities, such as Corona, have lessened their construction fees by as much as 40% for the next two years. Though these fee reductions have been met with mixed reviews, builders such as Hemet general contractors and Redlands general contractors welcome the financial break in these tough times.
The hope is that more new construction will equal more jobs which, in turn, will boost the region’s economy as a whole, but opponents to the fee cuts argue that the community is going to lose its budget for infrastructure development and that the area will become even more dependent on the construction industry. Only time will tell if the break Corona builders are receiving will work in favor of the community at large.
