Lakeland, FL and State Agree to Land Deal
November 19, 2009 - Great news for Lakeland, Florida contractors on Tuesday as the state and the city reached a deal for a land swap that will result in 111 acres being developed as Lakeland recreational facilities. The city will be building baseball fields, picnic areas, and a community center on the land. Lakeland contractors can expect the city to move forward with development early next year.
Lakeland and the state reached an additional agreement that involves the city leasing 25 acres from the state for creation of fishing piers and hiking trails. This public works spending is welcome news to struggling Lakeland general contractors.
