U.S. Senate Commits to Florida Military Spending

November 20, 2009 – The United States Senate has allocated $920 million to be spent on construction efforts at Florida military facilities, with the hopes of, not only boosting the region’s ailing economy, but also stepping-up the nation’s national security infrastructure. Pensacola contractors will be happy to hear that $246 million will be spent on construction projects at Elgin Air Force Base.

Other important designations in the Senate’s bill include $26 million for housing and simulator facilities at the Pensacola Naval Air Station, and $7.3 million for land purchases at the Panama City Army Reserve Center. Pensacola contractors and Panama City contractors, respectively, are expected to aggressively pursue contracts associated with this spending.
