Bill Approved for $500M for San Antonio Bases
November 18, 2009 – On Tuesday, the United States Senate approved a bill that allots $1.5 billion in spending for Texas military bases. Approximately $500 million of these funds will go to construction and infrastructure projects at San Antonio-area bases, including Fort Sam Houston and Randolph AFB. San Antonio construction contractors will likely see a tremendous boost in their ailing industry.
Key projects planned for San Antonio include a $22 million Army Reserve facility and new medical center at Fort Sam Houston. This federal spending will likely produce thousands of construction jobs for everyone from San Antonio electricians to San Antonio HVAC contractors. If all stays on track, some of the projects could kick-off as early as January.
