San Jose Contractors Start Flood Control Project

September 1, 2009 – To date, the Federal Government has allocated $787 billion in stimulus funding to help boost the struggling US economy. On Thursday, $18 million of those dollars started going to work in East San Jose as contractors broke ground on the Lower Silver Creek flood control project.  The total project when complete is expected to cost around $78 million and generate more than 700 construction jobs for San Jose contractors.

The flood control work, starting near Reid-Hillview Airport, will protect over 3,800 homes and businesses in East San Jose from the “100 year flood”.  The project will nearly double the capacity of the Lower Silver Creek and will also include a new pedestrian overpass at Doris Avenue.  Local subcontractors from Cupertino engineering contractors to Santa Clara general contractors should contact city officials about this opportunity.
