Officials Cut Riverside Developers’ Fees

November 19, 2009 - In an effort to stimulate the ailing Inland economy, city officials for several Southern California districts have significantly reduced the fees which developers must pay. Cities, such as Corona, have lessened their construction fees by as much as 40% for the next two years. Though these fee reductions have been met with mixed reviews, builders such as Hemet general contractors and Redlands general contractors welcome the financial break in these tough times.

The hope is that more new construction will equal more jobs which, in turn, will boost the region’s economy as a whole, but opponents to the fee cuts argue that the community is going to lose its budget for infrastructure development and that the area will become even more dependent on the construction industry. Only time will tell if the break Corona builders are receiving will work in favor of the community at large.
