June 13, 2009 – The national Affordable Housing Program (AHP), which has doled out over $30 million so far in 2009, awarded $300,000 to Oak Valley Community Bank of Oakdale. The bank will be using the funds to help finish the construction of the final phase of the Hope Village development in Modesto.
The Stanislaus contractors, Habitat for Humanity, will be overseeing the completion of the 20-unit project. Prospective homeowners will be required to participate in the Modesto construction process, contributing more than 500 hours, in order to qualify for the affordable housing.
The Hope Village subdivision will employ some green features, such as photo-voltaic power.
To date, the AHP has supplied funding to construct 2,558 residences, with projects in California, Illinois, Texas, Washington, and Nevada.
