San Mateo Contractors Could See Solar Schools

September 20, 2009 – Two San Mateo County school districts are planning-out what to do with their share of California’s allocated $2.7 billion of federal Qualified School Construction Bonds. Chosen by lottery, Portola Valley and San Mateo-Foster City school districts are anxious to get their ambitious construction plans approved, which is great news for Palo Alto contractors and Foster City contractors.

Portola Valley is in process of getting plans approved to go 100% solar, leveraging $2.85 million in tax credts from the Qualified School Construction Bonds program.  Officials are proposing that solar panels be installed on the roof tops of multi-pupose buildings throughout the district.  If approved, these installations will be competively bid on by San Mateo electricians as well as Foster City electricians.

The Portla Valley district has until the end of 2009 to get the projects approved or the federal funds will no longer be available.
